FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you play my music?

The College Radio Directory is not a station, it’s a directory. Webster’s definition for directory: a book listing individuals or organizations alphabetically or thematically with details such as names, addresses, and phone numbers.

To get your music played on college radio stations, you must submit to the stations using the contact info you receive when you download the College Radio Directory.

Does my music have to be clean?

Yes. Your music has to be clean edited for radio stations to play your music.

Can stations just play explicit versions?

Unlike podcasts or other online streams, college radio stations are monitored by the FCC and must follow their guidelines.

Are these stations tracked by MediaBase?

Yes, although every station is unique so we can’t speak for all stations. College radio stations are licensed by ASCAP & BMI.

I’m with ASCAP/BMI, why didn’t I see any earnings?

Make sure you are registering your music in a timely manner and correctly with your P.R.O. Also note that radio royalties are paid out quarterly and typically three (3) quarters later. This is why major artists get advances because a summer hit this year won’t start seeing royalties until next year.
